Escolastica Hinojos

LPC Associate

Supervised by Carol Kent LPC-S

Escolastica “Suzy” Hinojos, was born in a small Texas border town. She spent her childhood playing in the rocky streets and valleys of Mexico and roller skating on the sidewalks of the United States, ultimately making it her permanent home. After graduating high school Suzy enlisted in the USN to see the world and pay for education. After her honorable discharge in 2012 she came back to Lubbock, TX and immediately integrated herself into the early childhood and academic community. After obtaining her associates and bachelors she went on to obtain her master’s to become a counselor. During the day, Escolastica works in regulation with the State of Texas to keep children safe. In the evening hours, she spends her time with her family and occasionally reading a book.

While Escolastica has always had a passion and natural abilities in mental health counseling, she first started her career in early childhood as another one of her passions is to protect children and advocate for them. She has dedicated the past decade to learning about human development and the internal and external forces which affect us and how. In studying children for the past decade and more recently the human psyche through counseling, Suzy has a unique understanding of how negative or positive impacts during a child’s infancy and childhood can affect them as adults and how those conditions can present.

Escolastica’s belief is that mental health should be viewed as a proactive pursuit, with an emphasis on reflection, prevention, and maintenance. By fostering awareness of how various emotions manifest in the body, individuals can learn to identify signs of stress and tension. This recognition not only aids in releasing physical and emotional burdens but also promotes a harmonious relationship between the brain and body. As one develops this ability, responses to new stressors can become more appropriate and measured, reducing the likelihood of distress. Embracing this approach equips individuals with the tools necessary to navigate life's challenges with greater resilience and balance.
